I remember back when I was a kid, we have this friend who got so afraid when we saw a burning house near our place. It’s not that near to the point where you need to be afraid that the house we are in will burn as well. I think the fire is 3 blocks away from us so we really have nothing to worry about. But this friend of ours was really shaking and freaking out. And since we were kids back then, we really don’t know what was happening to him so instead of taking his panic issue seriously, we were laughing and making fun of him to make him even more afraid (I was a jerk back then). Luckily, our friend was alright. He just needed a room to breathe and drink a glass of water so; it was really nothing serious at all.
What my friend experienced was what they call panic attack. A panic attack is a sudden surge of overwhelming anxiety and fear. It is kind of similar to what my friend experienced except that a panic attack can just strike out without any warning. All of a sudden, your heart pounds and you can’t breathe. You also feel dizzy and sick to your stomach. The worst part about panic attacks is the feeling that you might die or go crazy. If it is not being treated seriously, a person can cause to withdraw from normal activities because of the panic disorder.
However, panic attack is treatable and it can be treated better the sooner you seek help. The solution or treatment for panic attacks is simply the capability to regain control of your life.
